The part that never worked

Every interactive overlay meant an account somewhere. Sign up, connect your Twitch, hand a cloud service access to your stream, and hope it is still running next year. Want viewers to stake points? Then you were tied to whichever bot that service happened to support. Small ideas never got built, because the setup cost more than the idea was worth.

So we built it

Overlays that are just files. Each one is a single self-contained HTML file that you point an OBS Browser Source at. Nothing to install, no account, no server of ours in the loop, and it keeps working if our site disappears tomorrow. Chat comes in from Twitch or Kick. If you want viewers to wager points, the overlay talks to the bot you already run, whether that is StreamElements, Firebot or Streamer.bot. If you would rather not, everything still works, just without the wager.

The overlays

The free ones cover the everyday things: a chat box with native 7TV, BTTV and FFZ emotes, text to speech that synthesises locally instead of in a cloud, a privacy cover for whatever should not be on stream, a clip overlay that saves the seconds before someone types the command, and a focus room for co-working streams. The chat games are the other half, from a ball drop to a full quiz show on Closerto.io.

What's next

More games, and better setup. The part we keep coming back to is the first ten minutes: a streamer should be on air before they lose interest, not reading documentation. Everything else follows from that.
